Appto vs Bitrig

Two Mac apps that build iOS apps with your own AI agent. A fact-based comparison as of October 13, 2026.

In short

Bitrig and Appto both run on a Mac and on your own Claude Code or Codex subscription. Bitrig is stronger in development itself, with six Apple platforms, Figma import, CloudKit and Supabase, and a free tier. Appto starts earlier and ends later. Before any code it picks a niche on App Store data, it builds the store page in many languages, and after launch it shows sales and helps with reviews.

Each one in brief

Bitrig is a Mac app from a team that co-created SwiftUI at Apple, a Y Combinator Summer 2025 company. Inside it runs Claude Code and Codex on your own subscription, or Bitrig credits. It writes native SwiftUI apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, TV and Vision Pro, captures App Store screenshots itself and can submit the app for review itself.

Appto is a Mac app that takes your iPhone app from idea to the App Store. It also runs on Claude Code or Codex with your own subscription. An app's path in Appto starts with the niche. Appto checks on live App Store data whether apps in the topic make money and whether the leaders are weak, and only then does the agent move on to design and code. After launch Appto shows downloads and page conversion from Apple's reports, purchases as they happen on Studio and Pro, gathers reviews and drafts replies.

Where Bitrig is stronger

  • Six Apple platforms, built-in 3D simulators, parallel agents each with its own simulator.
  • Figma import, CloudKit and Supabase, widgets and Live Activities.
  • A free tier and code export at any time.
  • Pro at $15 with no limit on the number of apps.
  • You can work on Bitrig credits without your own AI subscription.
  • A team that built SwiftUI at Apple.

Where Appto is stronger

  • Work starts with the niche. Appto checks on App Store data whether there is money in the topic, whether the leaders are weak and whether newcomers break through, and shows the evidence.
  • The App Store page is its own stage. Screenshots, texts and icons as variants side by side, A/B comparison, all languages side by side, search queries and rankings, a language plan.
  • After launch, everything in one window. On Studio and Pro purchases arrive as they happen, with country and paywall, plus downloads and page conversion from Apple's reports, review replies and an alert on fresh one or two star reviews.
  • It also runs on Intel Macs.

What shipping the first app costs

In both cases an Apple developer account at $99 a year and an AI subscription come on top of the app's price. With Appto that's Solo at $9.99 a month plus Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus from $20 a month. With Bitrig it's Pro at $15 a month plus the same AI subscription, or a Bitrig credits plan from $25 a month without your own subscription. Prices as of October 13, 2026.

Who each one fits

If you already have the idea and development matters most, several Apple platforms, Figma and cloud data, look at Bitrig. If you want to know first which niche already makes money, and after launch see sales, reviews and App Store search next to the code, that's what Appto is built for.

Questions

Do both run on a Claude or ChatGPT subscription?

Yes. Appto runs on Claude Code or Codex with your subscription. So does Bitrig, which can also run on its own credits without a subscription.

Do I need a Mac?

For both, yes. Bitrig needs an Apple silicon Mac on macOS Sequoia or later. Appto runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, but building apps needs Xcode 26, which installs on macOS 15.6 and later.

Who submits the app to Apple?

Appto submits the app to Apple from your account or shows you what to press in App Store Connect. Bitrig can submit on its own or when you tell it to.

Can I try it for free?

Bitrig has a free tier with 10 messages a day and up to 60 credits a month. Appto has no free tier and no free trial. Before you pay, you can look around the demo, which is built into the app and runs on sample apps with no sign-in, and work on your own app comes with a subscription.

Build your own app in Appto

Appto checks the niche on fresh App Store data, designs the screens, writes the code, builds the App Store page and submits to Apple from your account or shows you what to press in App Store Connect. Runs on your own Claude Code or Codex.
