Replit runs in the browser. Its agent builds React Native apps with Expo for iPhone and Android, and a launch wizard uploads the build to App Store Connect. No Mac needed, you pay in Replit credits. Appto runs on your Mac with your own Claude Code or Codex subscription. It picks a niche on App Store data, writes the app in SwiftUI, builds the store page in every language, and after launch shows sales and reviews.
Each one in brief
Replit is a cloud development environment with an AI agent. People use it for websites, web apps, mobile apps, slides and more. The agent writes mobile apps in React Native with Expo, one codebase gives you iPhone and Android, and the server and database live in the same project. You can test in an iPhone simulator right in the browser or on your own phone through Expo Go. For the App Store, Replit has the Launch wizard. You sign in with your Apple ID, the wizard creates certificates, builds the app on Expo's servers and uploads it to App Store Connect. You can generate the icon and screenshots in Replit, and you fill in the store page and submit for review yourself in App Store Connect. The agent runs on models from several companies, and you pay in Replit credits.
Appto is a Mac app that takes your iPhone app from idea to the App Store, running on Claude Code or Codex with your own subscription. An app's path starts with the niche. Appto checks on live App Store data whether there's money in the topic and whether the leaders are weak, then the agent designs the screens, writes native SwiftUI code from scratch for your idea, checks it in the simulator itself, builds the store page in every language and fills in App Store Connect. Appto then submits the app to Apple from your account or shows you what to press in App Store Connect. After launch Appto shows downloads and conversion from Apple's reports, and on Studio and Pro also purchases as they happen, gathers reviews and drafts replies. 9 apps made with Appto are on the App Store as of October 14, 2026.

Where Replit is stronger
- No Mac or Xcode needed, Replit and Expo build in the cloud.
- iPhone and Android from one codebase, with the server, database and file storage in the same project.
- The launch wizard creates certificates and uploads the build to App Store Connect itself.
- An iPhone simulator in the browser on Core and up, and testing on your own phone through Expo Go.
- Core at $20 already includes the agent, no separate AI subscription.
- A free Starter plan.
Where Appto is stronger
- The app is written in SwiftUI, Apple's own framework for iPhone interfaces.
- Work starts with the niche. Appto checks on App Store data whether there's money in the topic, whether the leaders are weak and whether newcomers break through, and shows the evidence.
- The App Store page in every language, search queries and rankings, screenshot variants with A/B comparison, and Appto writes them to App Store Connect once you confirm.
- After launch, downloads and page conversion from Apple's reports, purchases as they happen on Studio and Pro, review replies and an alert on fresh one or two star reviews.
- The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription, so spending doesn't depend on platform credits.
What shipping the first app costs
Both need an Apple developer account at $99 a year. With Appto add Solo at $9.99 a month and Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus from $20 a month. Appto has no free tier and no free trial. Before you pay, you can look around the demo, which is built into the app and runs on sample apps, and work on your own app comes with a subscription. Live purchases and niche revenue ranges are on Studio at $29.99 and Pro at $99.99 a month.
Replit Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. It includes $20 a month for paid agent modes, publishing and the database, and usage above that is pay as you go. Before an App Store launch Replit asks you to publish the app's server, and on the free Starter plan a published app goes down after 30 days, so we count Core here. With the Apple account that's $20 a month plus $99 a year. Prices as of October 14, 2026.
Who each one fits
If you don't have a Mac, need iPhone and Android from one codebase with a server alongside, and like working in the browser, look at Replit. If you have a Mac and want a SwiftUI app, a niche where people already pay first, and after launch sales, reviews and App Store search next to the code, that's what Appto is built for.
