This is the youngest money shelf in Finance. On October 16, 2026 the US top 100 grossing chart of the category had 7 class action settlement apps, and all of them launched in or after January 2025. Settlemate makes $297K–1.19M a month by our estimate (not Apple data). The work is a fresh case database, the mechanic is simple.
How much settlement apps make
These apps list open cases where US companies pay people for past purchases, check whether the person qualifies and remind them of the deadline. On October 16, 2026 Settlemate was number 17 in grossing Finance, and its highest position since Sep 24, 2026 was number 7, on Oct 7, 2026.

Appto data as of October 16, 2026. Rating growth September 16 to October 16, 2026. Rating counts and chart positions from the US App Store on October 16, 2026. Revenue is our estimate, not Apple data.
ClaimHunt's ratings spiked in the window, so it has no range, but it ranks number 37. Collect launched on September 30, 2025 and has 5,267 ratings, 14 times fewer than Settlemate, yet it was number 24 in the chart, close behind.
A shelf that didn't exist before 2025
Settlemate came first, on January 5, 2025. Payout, PayMe, Collect and ClaimHunt followed in 2025, and MoneyPilot and GetPaid in 2026. GetPaid launched on June 2, 2026 and was already number 45.
Newcomers get in fast because no one has an old base of ratings. Appto's research on October 11, 2026 found that three of the five notable players had fewer than 12 thousand ratings.
Where cases and deadlines come from
Every case has a settlement administrator with a website listing the terms, the claim form and the deadline. Those websites are the main source, and they have to be checked weekly, since cases open and close all the time.
US federal court documents are in PACER. Access costs $0.10 per page, capped at $3 per document (PACER fees, October 16, 2026). Administrator websites are usually enough for the database, and PACER helps with disputed cases.
So the app needs its own server with the case list. A list built into the app goes stale in a week.
What goes into version 1
- Open cases. Who pays, for what, until when and roughly how much.
- A short quiz. Did you buy this product and in what year, with no extra personal data.
- A reminder a week ahead. Before the filing deadline.
- A link to the administrator's site. The person files the claim there.
- A claims log. Filed, pending, paid.
How settlement apps charge
Every app in the table is free to download (US App Store, October 16, 2026) and sells a subscription. People pay to never miss a deadline and to skip searching for cases. Never promise a payout amount, the court and the number of claims decide it.
Risks
- Legal promises. Claims are filed under penalty of perjury. The app must not push people who don't qualify to file.
- Database freshness. A wrong deadline costs people money. It is ongoing editorial work.
- Testing it yourself. The cases are American, and from other countries you can't file a claim or get paid.
- The information is free. Case lists are published openly, so the value is in curation and reminders.
How we counted
Appto estimates revenue from 30 days of App Store rating growth, before Apple's commission. It is our estimate, not Apple data. In half of the cases the estimate is within 2x of the real figure, in four out of five within 3x, and for large apps it tends to run low. Ads, web sales and Google Play are not included. The method is explained in our article on estimating app revenue.
