Three shelves
The top 20 come from three shelves. Translators (Translate Now, Live Translator, Translate AI, InstantTranslator), Christian apps (Bible Chat, Hallow, Bible Widgets, Haven, BibleScroll, Bible Path, Ascension) and photo identifiers for collectors (CoinIn, CoinSnap, Collectr, AntiqSnap, FoilSnap, CCN). Ancestry stands apart at rank 3, family history and DNA tests. It is an old large service with 651,874 ratings, and we show no range for it.
The leaders have few ratings. The top 20 median is 79,472, and five apps have under 10,000. CCN at rank 20 has 1,988, and it sends alerts to card collectors.

How these apps charge
All 20 top grossing apps sell a subscription, and almost half of them, 9, have a weekly price. The free chart works the same way. Only 2 apps there sell nothing on the App Store, Google Translate and YouVersion's Bible. The rest of the top 20 free sell a subscription, and many of them sit in the grossing chart too.
A week costs $8.99 at the median, a month $9.99 and a year $59.99. A year costs about 6 months. 3 apps of the top 20 sell lifetime access, $79.99 at the median. What a chart rank is worth
We estimated 72 apps of the top 100, and 13 more get a rough estimate because they have few ratings. 41 apps make $100K a month or more at the low end. The top 10 median is $580K–2.3M, ranks 11–25 $233–932K.
Lower down the ladder is gentle, ranks 26–50 make $122–486K and ranks 51–100 $83–333K. BibleScroll from 2026 at rank 12 already makes $469K–1.9M. It keeps social apps locked until you read the day's Bible passage.
How newcomers get in
This is one of the most open categories. 36 apps of the top 100 came out in 2025–2026, 6 of them in the top 20. Among the 26 categories we checked, only Developer Tools, Shopping and puzzle games have more newcomers. Bible Widgets, verses on the lock screen, came out May 30, 2025 and sits at rank 7 with $1.4–5.7M. AntiqSnap, an antique identifier by photo, came out October 15, 2025.
Below the top 20 newcomers repeat one pattern, take a photo of a thing and learn its price. ToyWorth does it for toys, CarDex for cars, VinylSnap for records and WoodSense for wood. 16 of today's top 20 were there on September 24, 2026, and 10 apps entered the top 100 since then.
