What Claude Code does on its own
Claude Code is Anthropic's AI coding agent. It runs in the terminal on your Mac, reads the project, writes Swift, runs the Xcode build and fixes errors. With a Claude Pro subscription from $20 a month it's enough to take an iOS app from an empty folder to a build.
Everything else stays in your head. Which niche to pick and whether it makes money, what goes into version 1, what the App Store page looks like, which keywords in which languages, what to fill in App Store Connect, how sales go after launch. You can ask the agent for each step, but you gather the plan, the checks and the App Store data yourself.

What it costs
Both need an agent subscription, Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus from $20 a month, and an Apple developer account at $99 a year to ship. Appto adds Solo at $9.99 a month for one app, Studio at $29.99 for up to ten or Pro at $99.99 for up to a hundred. Claude, ChatGPT and Apple prices as of October 13, 2026. There's no free trial. Before you pay, you can look around the demo, which is built into Appto and runs on sample apps, and work on your own app comes with a subscription (terms as of October 15, 2026).
Questions
Does Appto need a separate AI subscription?
No, the same subscription you already have. Appto runs on Claude Code with a Claude subscription or on Codex with a ChatGPT subscription, and doesn't sell AI itself.
Can I carry on without Appto?
Yes. The code lives on your Mac and in your private GitHub repository, and Claude Code opens it like any other project.
Why not just ask the agent to do everything at once?
The agent does what you ask. Appto sets the order, checks every step by fact and brings App Store data the agent doesn't have.
