App Store name, subtitle and keyword checker
Paste your App Store texts for each language. The checker counts characters, finds repeats and empty space, and shows which searches your page covers in the country you pick.
Three fields matter for App Store search. The name takes up to 30 characters, the subtitle up to 30 and the keyword field up to 100. In the US the App Store shows pages in 10 languages (Apple, Oct 16, 2026). ASO practitioners observe that US search reads the texts in each of them, which gives up to 1,600 characters instead of 160.
Your page texts stay in this browser. Only the start of a search for suggestions and the name you check go to the server, together with the country you picked.
Country and languages
Languages per country from App Store Connect Help, “App Store localizations”, 175 countries, retrieved Oct 16, 2026. Apple doesn’t say outright that search reads a country’s additional languages. That part is an observation of ASO practitioners.
Texts by language
Tap a language to fill it in. The bar under each language shows how much of its 160 characters is used.
The fields hold an example right now, the Murmur white noise app, with mistakes on purpose. Press Clear all and paste your own texts.

App Store field limits
| Field | Limit | Where it shows and what search reads |
|---|---|---|
| Name | 2–30 chars | In search and on the product page. Apple says your app is searchable by its name and the company name. |
| Subtitle | 30 chars | Under the name across the App Store. ASO practitioners observe that it counts for search. |
| Keywords | 100 chars | Hidden from shoppers. Comma-separated, each word longer than two characters. Help says 100 bytes, App Store Connect counts characters. |
| Promotional text | 170 chars | Above the description, editable without a new version. |
| Description | 4,000 chars | On the product page. Apple uses it for web search results. |
| What’s New | 4,000 chars | From the second version on. |

Questions
How many characters can an App Store app name have?
From 2 to 30 characters, the same as the subtitle (Apple, Oct 16, 2026). In iPhone search a long name is cut with an ellipsis. The product page shows it in full.
Is the keyword limit counted in characters or bytes?
Apple’s help says 100 bytes. App Store Connect actually counts characters. Appto checked this on Sep 26, 2026, and Russian keywords of 75 characters (137 bytes) were accepted.
Do I need spaces after commas?
No. A space is a character too, and Apple splits keywords by commas. Ten spaces take the room of a whole word.
Why do Spanish and Chinese matter in the US?
In the US the App Store shows pages in 10 languages (Apple, Oct 16, 2026). ASO practitioners observe that US search reads the texts in each of them. If those languages are empty, your page works on 160 characters out of 1,600.
Can I put other apps’ names in my keywords?
No. Apple’s help doesn’t allow names of other apps or companies in the keyword field.
Where do the texts I type go?
Your page texts are kept only in this browser. For search suggestions the start of a search and the country go to the server, for the name check the name and the country.
Appto prepares your App Store page texts in every language and shows them side by side, with the searches, the reasons behind them and a language plan. Texts go into App Store Connect only after your yes.
